Kent Beekeepers Association (Bromley Branch)
In 2016 Bromley Branch organised a day-long event which concentrated on brood conditions. In 2017 we followed up by looking at adult bee diseases.
Now that the health of your bees is largely up to speed, this year’s spring day workshop will concentrate on activities that you may be on your mind right now.
Changing frames/foundation using shook swarm and Bailey frame change will be examined. There will also be time to look at spring feeding and preparation for spring and summer nectar flow, plus that ever present need to control varroa populations. If the weather allows there will be practical demonstrations, so please do bring a clean bee suit.
Once again the day will be led by David Rudland, who may have been known to you as a visiting seasonal bee inspector. He currently gives his full energies to running East Surrey Bees (http://www.eastsurreybees.co.uk/). In other words David brings with him considerable experience. Previous years’ events were very well received, so expect a worthwhile day.
