All events will take place at the apiary, Kent House Road Allotments.

Date: Saturday 27th April

Time: 10.00am till 4.00pm.

Cost: £25.00

Tea/coffee/biscuits provided.  Please bring your own lunch.

We hope to cover:

  • Why keep bees?
  • What are honey bees?
  • Life Cycle
  • Division of labour within the colony
  • Forage detection and forage collection
  • Hive design
  • Colony inspections (why, how and when).

Actual colony inspections are entirely dependant upon the prevailing weather.

Then, throughout the active season, apiary sessions are held each Wednesday evening at 7.00 pm.  These are apiary maintainance sessions at which beginners will be encouraged to take an active part.
